Pros:

  • Allows you to heal allies better: This allows you to heal your allies to 80% of their original health.
  • Allows others to heal you better: If you have a med kit equipped other players can heal you up to 80% of your original health
  • Allows you to heal others (and others to heal you) FASTER.  I haven't timed it but it is significantly faster to heal with a medkit than not.

Cons:

  • Takes up an available Item slot: There is only so much stuff you can carry.
  • Adds a White Patch to your arms and torso making it easier to spot.
  • If you equip one and don't heal other players they complain.

Toggles:

This item can be used by issuing the +button6/-button6 commands. Those commands can be bound to any key but typically is bound to the letter "q".

Dropping:

This item can be dropped with the command "ut_itemdrop medkit" that can be bound to any key of the players choosing.

Settings:

There are no "settings" for the med kit.

Advice:

  • Don't try to heal in the middle of a "hot" zone.  Great way to get you and your patient killed.
  • Try to bind a key telling who you are healing to "cover me" so that they are paying attention to the battle field, and not you.  So they can shoot anyone approaching.
  • Don't try to chase a player who asks for med then runs... if they want to get healed they will go to a safe location, wait, and cover you.  Players who don't abide by this usually aren't worth healing.
